4 Elements Barbershop Quartet

The Aorere College Department of Music has many vocal and instrumental groups which option music students may join.  The choirs include the Sweet Sixteen, the Decibelles, the Front Row, the Junior Choir, the Glee Choir and the Barbershop Chorus.  The Sweet Sixteen and Front Row have recently competed in NZCF nationals.  The Male barbershop chorus won Silver at YSIH nationals in 2012.  Barbershop quartets are a very important part of the vocal programme, many having competed at the national level. The 4Elements were first in the nation in 2010. The instrumental groups include the Euphonics Senior Concert Band, the Euphonics Junior Concert Band, the Stage Band (Jazz, Rock and Reggae), and various ensembles such as the clarinet choir, saxophone ensemble and brass quartet.  The Euphonics Senior Concert Band competes every year in the KBB Music Festival.

Bring it On

Aorere Students in Bring it On

Bring It On is a high energy dance event primarily hip-hop focused. It features a diverse range of secondary schools, bringing to the stage 5 minutes of hard core dance. It is an event that encourages participation across all spheres of life and showcases creativity and immense talent.

This multicultural event was an amazing success in its eighth year running last year with this year promising to be bigger and better. Bring It On started in Auckland in 2003 with just nine schools and one event. Last year 35 schools from across Auckland participated in three action packed Heats, leading up to the massive Grand Final. The Grand Final attracted crowds of over 5000 people. The Bring It On Secondary School Dance Competition is the first of its kind..

As in past years, we encourage all schools to appoint at least two team leaders, as well as a supervising teacher. A Bring It On mentor will be appointed to your school, who will work closely with your school to ensure that the positive messages of Bring It On are conveyed accurately to the students participating in Bring It On 2011.

We encourage all schools to organise your group as fast as you can. The faster you move the more time you will have for practice. During school terms, it is recommended that you utilise your lunch times and keep after school practices to a minimum. Bring It On mentors will assist teachers and students to ensure that academic studies do not suffer as a result of practice times.

Please keep in mind that Bring It On will stand behind any decisions made by your school authorities regarding any individuals or groups disobeying school rules and regulations. Therefore, the team leaders will be responsible for getting your team back to class on time after practices, and for any premises being kept tidy after use.
