Junior classes are broad banded to ensure students are working at an appropriate level. The more able classes follow an enhanced programme to ensure that these students are challenged to their full potential. The junior curriculum concentrates on the core subjects, students are given the opportunity to experience a wide range of subjects from the other essential learning areas.
The senior curriculum provides a wide range of subjects up to Level 3 of NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement), preparing students for courses of study at University and Technical Institutes.
The school has accreditation from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to offer a wider range of alternative courses offering credits towards the National Certificates. These alternative courses offer students the opportunity to follow that staircase to qualifications at many Institutes of Technology. Many students start studying towards these qualifications whilst still at school. The courses are held in high regard by tertiary education providers, ITO's (Industry Training Organisations) and employers.
