Careers Room with a large range of further study information
The Careers Department at Aorere College exists to help students take the next step in their lives. Leaving secondary school is a daunting time in the lives of young people and the choices on offer after they leave school can be intimidating, causing some students to bury their heads in the sand and hope for the best when it comes time to leave school. The Careers Department exists to help make the transition less of an ordeal and more of an adventure to be excited about and eagerly anticipated. There are mentoring programmes, Gateway opportunities, work experience, careers expos, experience days, both at universities and training institutions that will help with the decision making process. It is an aim of the Careers Department that every senior student in Y13 has a one on one conversation with a Careers Advisor to try and ascertain where they are headed once they leave school. Every effort is then made to try and help the students get started on the next step of their journeys with a personalised plan to see them achieve the entry requirements needed to reach their destinations.
