COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will investigate and learn how materials and chemical processes benefit our society and what effect they have on the environment. Patterns of chemical behaviour are also studied. Students’ manipulative and thinking skills will be developed. The highlight of the course is the extensive number of practical classes.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
16 credits gained in Level 1 including pass in AS90944 aspects of acids and bases and 90930: carry out a chemistry practical investigation with direction.

Chemistry – CHE301 - Year 13
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Level 3 Chemistry extends the knowledge and concepts learned in the Level 2 Chemistry course. It further develops a deeper understanding of application of chemical processes in industry and society. Students will develop their investigative and practical skills. The highlights of the course include independent practical work with guidance, and field trips. There will be opportunity to visit and do laboratory work at the University, 3 days of “Hands On Science” at the University of Auckland and a field trip to the Glenbrook Steel Mill.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
15 Level 2 Chemistry credits including 90308 (2.4) Describe the nature and bonding in different substances, and 90309 (2.5) Describe the structural formulae and reactions of compounds containing selected organic functional groups; or HOD Discretion
