Drama – 10DRA - Year 10

This is a practical and written course that will help students develop drama techniques and skills. Students will learn different styles of acting and script work. It will offer students the opportunity to devise and perform. Drama in Year 10 prepares students for success in NCEA Level 1 Drama. A passion to perform and an interest in the performing arts is a must!

Drama – DRA101 - Year 11

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn the drama elements and conventions through practical and written drama studies, to develop their potential in acting. They will have an in-depth look at a genre of theatre and develop skills to devise their own performance.

Drama – DRA201 - Year 12

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn about the drama techniques and apply them in a scripted performance. Creating their own play will be completed using conventions and elements. Students will perform in a full scale production of a play. Students will explore a style of theatre and improvisation. Written work is required.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Completion of 12 credits at Level 1 Drama or HOD discretion.

Drama – DRA301 - Year 13

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn how to integrate drama techniques in a scripted performance. Writing their own script will be completed in the devising assessment using conventions and elements to shape the scene. Students will perform in a full scale production of a play. Students will explore forms of theatre in preparation for external exams. Written work will be compulsory.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

12 credits at Level 2 Drama

COURSE LEADS TO

Tertiary Drama and/or Performing Arts studies at University or course study.

Credits towards NCEA Level 3 and University Entrance
