Mathematics – MAT101 - Year 11

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In level 1 Mathematics students will consolidate and extend the concepts studied in years 9 and 10. This course is aimed at students working and learning at Merit and Excellence levels.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Mathematics teachers will decide on the most appropriate Mathematics course for each student to be placed into, based on Year 10 grades achieved.

Mathematics – MAT102A - Year 11

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In level 1 Mathematics students will consolidate and extend the concepts studied in years 9 and 10. This course will suit students who benefit from a slower-paced learning environment. This is the first of a two year long Level 1 course allowing determined students a pathway into Level 2 mathematics.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Mathematics teachers will decide on the most appropriate Mathematics course for each student to be placed into, based on Year 10 grades achieved. Students who have passed some of MAT103 in 2011 can choose this option.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Mathematics – MAT201 - Year 12

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this course students will consolidate and extend the work studied at Level 1, especially in the use of trigonometry and statistics. The course provides an introduction to calculus and will also strengthen the student’s ability to manipulate algebraic expressions and formulate and solve real world problems.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

16 Level 1 Mathematics achievement standard credits, including 1 of 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 AND 1.6.

Mathematics – MAT202A - Year 12

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed for students who benefit from a slower paced course of study. It will consolidate and extend the work studied at Level 1, especially the use of co-ordinate geometry and statistics. This course will also strengthen the students’ ability to manipulate algebraic expressions and to formulate and solve real world problems.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students who passed all standards in MAT103 in 2011 can choose this option. Students who passed some standards in MAT203 in 2011 can choose this option.
