Physical Education – PED101 - Year 11

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students have the opportunity to develop skills that will build them into socially responsible leaders through the medium of sport. Students will learn about hauroa/wellbeing, how the body responds to exercise, and how the human body works. This course has an academic base and will suit students interest in studying Physical Education at a tertiary level.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Must have achieved in the Year 10 Sports Education course, teachers can advise students of the most appropriate Physical Education / Sports course for them, based on Year 10 Physical Education / Sports Studies grades achieved, or HOD discretion.

Physical Education – PED201 - Year 12

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides learning experiences that promote knowledge and understanding about the body and the need for a physically active and healthy lifestyle. These learning experiences should also develop the understanding, skills and motivation to encourage lifelong participation in physical activity.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

12 Level 1 Physical Education credits. Students who take this course cannot also take Level 2 Sports Studies or Level 2 Outdoor education.

Physical Education – PED301 - Year 13

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will learn leadership skills through the planning and implementation of a school camp, and coaching within the sporting field. They will learn about the need to be physically active, and about the importance of lifelong participation in physical activity.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

10 credits in Level 2 Physical Education. Students who take this course cannot also take 13 Outdoor Education or 13 Sports Studies.
