Y9 for 2012 Powhiri and Induction Day

On Monday, 5 December Aorere welcomed approximately 300 future Y9 students and some of their parents at a powhiri held in the school hall. Principal, Mr Drumm greeted the Y8s mainly from Kedgley Intermediate, but also from Kingsford and other contributing schools, and welcomed them to our Aorere whanau. He spoke of the partnership we have with our contributing schools and thanked them for forwarding to us great young men and woman and how we will work with parents to grow them into even better people.  He also spoke of the possibilities available and also the expectations Aorere has of our students for work, attendance, uniform and respect.

Mr Murphy, Principal of Kedgley said he felt like a 'father' handing over his Y8 students and knew they will thrive as many are 'ready to go' and talked of the many successes Kedgley students had already achieved.

Groups of students were then given guided tours of the school by Y10s, enjoyed a sausage sizzle at interval and finished the day in the gym sitting a science knowledge assessment - a hint of things to come!
