The Dinner:
I dreaded this night the week leading up to it, Mr.Ali made it sound so scary at first since we had to learn how to eat properly and how to act but luckily for me all the staff from novotel and ibis were all lovely people. At first it was awkward but I think I got the best seat on the table as my table had Ardy and Sven who were amazing as ice breakers as they kept asking us questions and keeping up conversation it made me and I think everyone else felt much more comfortable and I also was right next to Mr. Columbus giving me a chance to conversate with him it was a stunning experience.

The food was O I S H I I ! ! ! it was all presented in a beautiful, mouth-watering way.

Overall the night was amazing and I had thouroughly enjoyed myself in every way and I felt very grateful towards Novotel and Ibis hotel for giving us that night and the overall opportunity they had given us.

Exchange prep:
Another after school activity we had along with japanese language classes was exchange prep during these classes Mr. Ali helps us prepares us for the trip this included financial help and telling us more about Jishukan and the things we will do there. During the classes we also practised our cultural performance that we will be presenting to Jishukan, though I am not the type to dance often this was pretty fun to practise and I will feel accomplished once we do go up and present it.

Whanau meeting:
On the 22nd of May all the parents of the applicants met up in school for a presentation taken by Mr. Ali this meeting involved informing the parents on the different things that will be happening in japan and all the question the parents have will have been answered there also this meeting was good for me as gabby, an ex student who has already went on the exchange came in and talked about her experience in Japan this was very helpful as it made me feel a bit more ready for Japan.

An absolue life saver.
yumiko-sensei is our japanese language teacher, over 9 weeks she tried to teach us as much japanese as possible and I think she did an amazing job.

In the beginning I was definitely nervous about learning japanese but with the classes and emphasis sensei put on aspects such as pronounciation which after some time made me much more comfortable speaking japanese and now I feel like I can actually survive in Japan.

Every lesson sensei came prepared with something new like slides and activities this made every lesson interactive and fun, honestly more fun than most of my other classes, the lessons ranged from simple introduction and phrases all the way to actually eating japanese food and learning how to use chopsticks.

Overall I am very grateful for yumiko-sensei and all the work she has done for us now I feel much more comfortable speaking japanese from introducing myself to asking where the toilet is.

I finally left the B block open area after Mr. Ali's idea of suspense building, with butterflies running awry in my stomach and a nervous grin stretched accross my face I handed my  envelope to my two close friends William and Gurjot in front of the B block toilets I watched shaking on the brink of tears thinking about all I had gone through the application, group interview and the nerv-wracking solo interiew it felt as though time had slown down.

I watched as they pulled the letter out of the envelope and they, in unison, uttered the word "congratulations" instantly knowing what that meant we all started jumping and shaking hands words could not describe what I felt in that moment it was too much so much happiness, joy, excitement and most of all gratitude of course I'm mostly gracious to my parents for helping me the whole way knowing my mother cried once she found out I made it made me feel thankful and truly blessed and of course thankful to all the people who helped me at any point whether it was proof reading my essay or just moral support I love y'all.

I am so hyped to be apart of this exchnage being able to learn new things and visiting a country I've only ever dreamt of this still has not completely set in yet.

This was my call to adventure.
