A message from our Head Students
Ruth Tongotongo - Head GirlAorere College - a place to call home, a place where success is created within each classroom and a place where your potential can be recognised and realised. The amount of talent, culture and ability within the school community makes me extremely honoured to be Head Girl of 2017. Never would I have imagined myself standing in the position I now find myself, as this truly shows that with commitment and perseverance such opportunities are possible for everyone. Reflecting on my childhood I realise that with the amount of sacrifices, support and love given, my parents have woven the person I am today. I thank my parents and most importantly thank God for this.
My work as Head Girl is still in the process of developing, but as a leader it is important to not define yourself or to lie within any boundaries; meaning to not set yourself higher or above one another but beside each other as one. I believe in the capability in all students and encourage them to strive where their passion lies which is supported by all staff of Aorere College. The amount of passion displayed behind the scenes, within classes and around the school can not be appreciated enough. |
Soakai Malamala - Head BoyAoŕere College is an institution that can produce world-class singers, top tier sportspeople, and high achieving professors. As a student at Aorere College, I am filled with an immense amount of pride because of the history of the school. As a young year nine student coming into Aorere College, I saw the Year 13s, and especially the prefects as superheros, and looked up to them a lot. Being a leader at Aorere College was always an aspiration of mine, and now I’m thankful for the opportunity that has been given to me to be the Head Boy of my school for 2017. With the student leadership team we have, and the support that has been shown by teachers and staff, I am confident that we can make great progress and effect changes to continue to establish a stable foundation for learning for future generations to come. I look forward to serving the school and working collaboratively with all to make this a great year to remember
