Why is everyone staring at me?

Last night before bed my host mother (okaasan) asked me what I usually eat for breakfast. I told her that I usually just drink a coffee. The next morning when I come downstairs for breakfast sitting on the table was a cup of coffee. She's so thoughtful💜

Walking into school was scary and it didn't help when I found out I was in a class by myself. While walking into school everyone looked at me. Some said hello and some just stared. I couldn't understand anything they were saying, however, I kept hearing the word New Zealand so I knew they were talking about me. Although this was a little uncomfortable, I knew the other Aorere students were probably experiencing the same thing.

Later on that day the Aorere students along with our buddies, all went to a Japanese traditional tea ceremony. In this, we wore kimonos, sat in the seiza position and learnt more about the Japanese culture.
Thank you to the teachers that helped prepare this!
I spend the rest of the night with my homestay family playing Japanese games and talking about New Zealand.
Goodnight.

Loving those Kimonos! And I would imagine there are a whole bunch of rituals/rules that you must follow in such a ceremony..
