About Parting Stage
SynopsisFive youthful minds struggle to sustain friendships and figure out what life holds for them. What else is new? They face the age-old question – to seize tempting opportunities or settle for what is known and safe. The result? As often is the case for the teens of today: crippling indecision. Complicating this is the fact that they are pulled in different directions by family and friends. Their stories are real; they resonate and give insight into the generation they represent.

Live CinemaLive Cinema involves the collaboration of film, dance, theatre and live music; all woven together to create an immersive art form for the audience. This is an original concept that is a new endeavour for Aorere students to take part in. A type of production where characters are stripped from the script and stand torn between the realms of stage and screen. With multimedia representations throughout, giving the show diversity and connection to the social media world, this new, rare experience is definitely one the audience needs to witness.

An Original Script
The writers, Kaylene Te Wake and Joegen Daniels on creating an original script;
"It was important that we wrote an original script. After the decision to create Live Cinema, we realised it would be better to write a completely new narrative from scratch, rather than adapt an existing play. We threw around tonnes of ideas near the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016 and settled on a few key themes that we felt our generation, area and students could relate to; notably, leaving school, establishing genuine relationships and the problems that come in recent years with social media. As the Aorere Film Academy has primarily worked with short films, it was considerably more difficult to plan everything ahead of time before starting writing the script. However, the pay off for months of work made everything worth it. Now, we are at the stage where our script is coming to life on camera, and we're excited to see it onstage soon!"
